Offshore
investment banking business as defined under the Offshore
Banking Act 1990 (OBA), where it provide credit facilities,
consultancy and advisory services related to corporate and investment
matters or making investments on behalf of any person. Also, undertake
foreign exchange transactions, interest rate swaps, dealings in
derivative instruments or derivative financial instruments or any
other similar risk management activities or such other business
as the Authority, with
the approval of the Minister
of Finance may specify, in any currency other than Malaysian
currency. In addition, offshore investment banks are not allowed
to accept deposits.
